Our Music Production (Studio) course offers a dynamic blend of theory and hands-on experience, providing comprehensive education in music production. Master the art of editing and mixing sound using industry-standard software including Protools, Alberton, Logic, and Reaper in diverse musical contexts.

Through this course, you'll learn the intricate process of recording, editing, and mixing music at ANTIPODES RECORDING STUDIO. Whether you're a budding producer, audio engineer, musician, or songwriter, you'll find a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to fuel your passion.

All students receive 14 hrs of free recording time per term!

Our industry-aligned approach sets this course apart by collaborating with experts in the field, the curriculum ensures that you are well-prepared for real-world scenarios.

You’ll not only leave with a wealth of knowledge but also a nationally recognised qualification - a Cert IV in Music (Sound Production) that speaks volumes in the industry.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

- Understand the use and function of microphones and recording equipment

- Record a range of musical instruments to a professional standard

- Edit sound using professional software in a range of musical contexts

- Mix music to professional release standard and format

- Work with musicians to refine their creative output

- Plan, organise and execute music production project from demo to final polished product

- Develop music business skills

All OCA students have access to industry practices, resources and education within a 360-degree creative hub designed for artists, bands, managers, music entrepreneurs, producers, and songwriters.

PERFORM - Perform in our monthly emerging artist showcase held at Oxford Art Factory. If you’re more of a behind-the-scenes person, work on any aspect of this event from promotion to event management.

PRODUCE - Get 12 hours of free studio recording time a term to record your tracks or work with emerging artists on their projects.

RELEASE - Access free label services to release your music or work with emerging artists to release theirs.

LEARN - You’ll study a nationally recognised Cert IV in Music and choose your specialisation in Entertainment Business Management, Music Production or Live Performance.

PLUS! All OCA students receive free entry to 4 gigs at Oxford Art Factory every month for professional development and networking opportunities. You choose the gigs, and we’ll add you to the VIP list.

    DOMESTIC STUDENTS

    o 1 Year, 4 x 10-week terms

    o Blended Delivery - Online / Self Paced Study (LMS) plus 7 hrs face to face (On Campus/In Studio) p/week.

    INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

    o 1 Year, 4 x 10-week terms

    o Blended Delivery - 6 hrs supervised online learning + 14 hrs face to face (Classroom) p/week.

  • o Students must be 18yrs or over to study with OCA

    o Students are NOT required to have an ATAR to study with OCA

    o Entry to this course requires an audition and interview.

    o Audition to be conducted via online or on campus. Prepare two contrasting pieces for your audition that demonstrate the breadth of your musical skills.

    o English proficiency: Domestic students must demonstrate LLN to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3

    International students must demonstrate they hold an IELTS 5.5 with no skills band less than 5 or equivalent

    o Sound computer skills (web navigation, email, document creation, sharing, and presentation)

    o Student Equipment: Home Internet connection, Personal Laptop (minimum specs 1.2ghz, 250gb HDD)
