Oxford Creative Academy (OCA) is a cutting edge music institute offering practical courses in a real world environment, redefining music education.

Utilising an industry leading location, the Oxford Art Factory, students will receive an Industry led learning experience, that provides both fundamental knowledge and practical applications. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York during the 60’s, the Oxford Art Factory creates a focal point for international and local artists, providing them with a world-class venue in which to showcase their talents. International and Australian artists such as Royal Blood, The Rubens, Lady Gaga, Nick Murphy fka Chet Faker, Gang of Youths, Band of Skulls, Tame Impala and Matt Corby, have all launched their careers at Oxford Art Factory

 

OCA nurtures creative people to recognise their unique talents and develop the skills necessary to succeed in today’s music industry. OCA gives you the opportunity to study at the Oxford Art Factory, in a real-world working environment and build industry relationships with the best the industry has to offer.

A&R Development

The Music Business course focuses on building industry knowledge and developing your career path through understanding distribution of products and developing knowledge of industry business possibilities.

 

The Music Entrepreneur course will ignite your inner entrepreneurial spirit and empower you as a creative and free thinker by utilising our real-world experiences and knowledge taught in key aspects of the music industry.

These short courses will be taught by experienced tutors, with online student support and video content to enhance student learning. This training will be delivered at a standard which meets or exceeds the training given as part of a nationally registered qualification such as provided by TAFE.

In 2019 OCA will also be offering two full-time courses, Certificate IV in the Music Industry and Diploma of Music Industry. OCA is currently applying for registration to the national regulator (ASQA), and on successful registration, we will offer all of our student's credit towards Music Industry (Cert IV) or Music Industry (Diploma) for training already completed.

In a career that spans over 25 years, Managing Director Matt O’Connor (ex Head of A&R at Warner Music) has worked with some of the biggest acts in Australian music and continues to work in a variety of diverse roles such as production, artist development, management, labels, 
publishing, sync and A&R. Matt wanted to create a space & courses in which budding music entrepreneurs can learn from industry professionals with real world experience. Students are taught within the 10 week courses how to apply these skills in a practical way, so that they can maximise the success of their careers immediately.
