OCA began in 2015 as a creative collaboration between The A&R Department and Oxford Art Factory. In a career that spans over 25 years, Managing Director Matt O’Connor has worked with some of the biggest acts in Australian music; The Beautiful Girls, Harts, Sparkadia, Meg Mac, SAFIA, Shihad, Magic Dirt, Thirsty Merc, Savage, The Occupants, Disco Montego. He continues to work in a variety of diverse roles such as production, artist development, management and A&R.
Matt wanted to create a space in which budding music entrepreneurs can learn from industry professionals with real world experience. Students are taught within the 12 week courses how to apply these skills in a practical way, so that they can maximise the success of their careers immediately.

Matt O’Connor is a music producer, songwriter and A&R Manager from Sydney, Australia. He has been in the music industry for over 25 years including a highly successful term at Warner Music Australia, which built him a reputation as one of the most experienced and respected A&R managers in the country.
His projects combined have sold over one million records with an ARIA track record that includes 17 top 10 records, 12 top 20 records and 16 top 40 records.
He is now the owner and managing director of The A&R Department, and independent A&R consultancy company specialising in artist development, music distribution and project management.

Tony Cvetkovski is a Sydney based music producer with over 25 years of experience. A multifaceted career that has seen his abilities used not only in music production, but also as a Songwriter, Audio Engineer and Guitar Player. He has worked on projects for most major record labels such as Sony Music, Warner Music, EMI, Universal Music and Shock Records for which he has garnered top 10 and top 40 chart hits. The love of all genres often sees him straddle between Pop/RnB/Rock/Indie and EDM styles.
Some previous clients include: Kaylan, Robyn Loau, Anuj, Tiffani Wood, Angie Cox, BJ Caruana, Rebecca Cartwright, Delta Goodrem, Sophie Monk and Street Warriors to name a few. With a Masters Degree in Recording Arts and as a educator of many years in various institutions, he endeavours to pass on the experience and industry knowledge acquired while maintaining a solid foothold as a working professional and staying on top of current trends.

An entertainment industry professional with over 20 years experience, Nigel specialises in Artist Management and representation for developing and established performing and recording artists. He has personally managed the careers of numerous artists from ‘superstar’ EDM/ DJ producers & 10 piece funk bands to pop, commercial and indie-alternate rock acts.
Some career highlights include: – No 1 on US Billboard Dance Chart, No 1 National Charts, Top 5 in Japan, Gold Records and numerous ARIA and other industry awards and nominations. Nigel has planned, organised and managed many National and International tours.
An accomplished educator he combines industry acknowledged entertainment business management skills with a demonstrated ability to teach, motivate, and direct students while maintaining high interest and achievement. He currently consults on Artist Management and Business Affairs with record labels and new and established entertainment businesses.

Max Doyle is an Australian photographer renowned for his fashion imagery and striking portraiture. Doyle first discovered his passion during a period of great change: the development of the grunge era in early 90’s London. It was during this time, the photographer began to produce dynamic interpretations of contemporary counterculture, exploring the ways in which postmodern art and fashion collide. Here, poignant beauty coupled with a kind of elegant rebellion characterised his unmistakable style.
Having worked extensively throughout London and New York, Doyle then returned to Sydney in 1999 to launch the iconic art photography magazine, doingbird. This independent biannual title amassed an immediate following for its unguarded approach to culture and style, featuring a diverse body of work from celebrated photographers the likes of Terry Richardson and Alasdair McLellan. He continues to contribute to fashion publications including Vogue, Elle and In Style. Recently Doyle has worked as Creative Director on Oyster magazine, shooting Margot Robbie for the cover.

Ryan Miller is an Australian record producer, mixer, engineer and composer based in two of Sydney’s finest recording studios – ‘Studios 301’ and Harry Vanda’s (ACDC, The Easy Beats) ‘Hercules St Studios’. Ryan’s passion for independent Australian music has helped countless bands get their music heard on Australia’s ‘Triple J’ including ‘The Hottest 100, land slots on major festival circuits and sign both national and international sync deals.
Ryan has worked with the likes of; Will I Am, Angus & Julia Stone, Kygo, Little May, Peking Duk, The Vines, SAFIA, The Jezabels, The Delta Riggs, Lisa Mitchell, Panama, Newton Faulkner, Ta-Ku, Adam Spark (Birds of Toyko), Alex Burnett (Sparkadia), The Valkyries, The Magic Bones, Stan Walker, Noiseworks, Hercules & Love Affair, The Dead Heads, Deni Hines, Ronan Keating, Darren Percival, The Ruminaters, Damien Leith, Cody Wade, J Motor, Borgore and many more.

As an engineer in his own studio Herm Kovac has recorded Slim Dusty, Midnight Oil, Divynals, Angry Anderson, Pete Wells, James Blundell, Gina Jeffreys, Beccy Cole, Russell Crowe, Gondwaanaland, Smokey Dawson, Kate Cebrano, Tim Freedman, TMG, John Paul Young, Amazing Rythmn Aces, Travis Collins, David Campbell, Phil Emanuel, Anne Kirkpatrick, John Williamson, Adam Harvey, Catherine Britt, Bill Chambers, Rory O’Donoghue, Kevin Bennett, Brendon Walmsley, Carter and Carter, Bob Daisley, Kylie Sackley, Samantha McClymont, Russel Morris, Brett Lee, Mark Lee, Crosby Sisters, Karen Lynne, Harmony James and many more.
In 2005 Herm started teaching audio recording at North Sydney Tafe. He brought his wealth of knowledge as an engineer and producer in the five years of teaching at North Sydney. For the last three years Herm has been teaching at Ultimo Tafe.
Sebastian de Haas

Sebastian de Haas is a music producer and production technician based in Sydney, Australia. He got his start playing drums in various bands as a teenager, moving onto learning various other instruments in the process. This sparked an interest in recording and music production, and since then he has completed a Bachelor of Music majoring in Audio Engineering and worked on various music festivals and events such as Stereosonic, Laneway Festival, Subsonic, Groovin’ The Moo and Boiler Room.
He is an active DJ in the Sydney scene, playing warehouse parties, radio shows and various venues as a member of Love Club DJs. He is the producer for electronic project Kyoto Skies, who have played such festivals as Splendour in the Grass. Sebastian is currently working for Merivale as a production technician, working at events such as Pacha and Marco Polo, and venues such as Ivy, Beresford and Establishment.

Timothy McArtney is a multi-instrumentalist, musical director and film composer, who works from Hercules street studios, Surry hills, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Starting on electric bass when he was 10 years old, Tim then began learning Double bass playing in orchestras, stage bands, jazz bands, and then rock and pop bands.
As a recording bassist Tim has played on countless Australian Releases including The McClymonts Aria nominated record ‘Here’s to you and I’, Firekites, Melanie Horsnell and Sean Carey (Thirsty Merc). Tim also plays many other instruments like guitars, keyboards and synthesizers, vocals and usually takes the role of musical director in his projects. Tim’s most notable and exciting role is with Triple j darling, Asta. Tim has successfully directed Falls Festival performances, national tours, and major tour supports, including Ellie Goulding. Tim is a Fender and D’Addario Endorsee.
